This is a description of how to create a new empty shape file in the GeoScene3D map window.
A layer is added to the map window from an empty shape file that is created. The types of shapes can be points, polylines or polygons. In this case the shape is a polygon and we will go through how the shape file can be created and edited in the map window.
Step 1
First, you have to create an empty shape file.
Press the button with a black cross, illustrated with a black circle in the image below.

The "Add Map Layer Wizard" opens.
Select the "External File" button as illustrated in the image below.

Press "Next".
Check the "Create New Empty Shape File" button and select Polygons as shape type.
Press the yellow folder to select a destination folder for the new empty shape file, for example "C:\Temp\CreateShapeFile.shp" as illustrated in the image below.

Press "Next".
In the "Finish" page, press "Finish" as illustrated in the image below.

Now the new empty shape file is added to the map window in the "Layer Manager (Map)".
Press the button illustrated with a black circle in the below left image to open the "Layer Manager (Map)" as illustrated in the right image below.

Step 2
Now you are ready to edit a polygon shape in the empty shape file.
Select the "CreateShapeFile.shp" in the dropdown list, illustrated with a black circle in the below image. To start editing the polygon shape, press the plus button, illustrated with a purple circle in the image below.

Edit a number of points to create a polygon and to stop the editing, press the "Stop editing" button, illustrated with a black circle in the image below.

By default, the color of the polygon is gray as illustrated in the below image.
To change the symbology of the shape file, mark and right-click the shape file in the "Layer Manager (Map)".
Select the "Layer Symbology...".

The "Layer Symbology Editor" opens as illustrated in the image below.
Select "transparent" for the Area and press "Apply".

Select Outline width to 2.0 and a blue color, press the box below Color as illustrated in the below image.
Press "OK".

Now you have created a polygon in the new empty shape file as illustrated in the image below.
You have defined a blue line as the symbology. You can change this symbology as you wish.

You can open the attribute table of the shape file and add comments here.
Press the "Attribute Table" button, illustrated with a black circle in the image above.
Type in "City Shape" and press "Close" as illustrated in the image below.

You can create as many polygons you want in the shape file, they will all have the same symbology.
