A new official release of GeoScene3D is now available for download.
New version (8.3.0.333) can be downloaded from
www.i-gis.dk

The new version includes a few new major improvements and numerous minor features and fixes. The major improvements will be described below.
Development of GeoScene3D in the oncoming months will continue the focus on stability and performance but also on new major improvements. A roadmap for the planned developments will be published in the near future.
I•GIS has recently hired Torben Bach who has a M.Sc. in Geology, to work in the GeoScene3D team. He will serve as both software developer and business development manager. Torben has more than ten years of experience with development of software for hydrogeology, hydro geophysics, and related areas. One of his first projects will be developing an export module for DHI-WASY FEFLOW modeling package.

Intelligent Interpolation
Until now, when editing points, interpolating the edited points to a grid has been a manual task. The user had to start the interpolation wizard manually and press Finish each time. This procedure is still possible, but two new features has been added to speed up the process. First, if all interpolation settings has been set the interpolation can be run by clicking a single button or using a keyboard shortcut. Second, if the new setting "Automatic Local Interpolation" is activated the interpolation runs automatically after each edit operation (insert, delete, move) of one or multiple points. This last local interpolation runs only in the vicinity of the edited points and is quite fast. All visualizations of the grid are automatically updated.

Instant Local Interpolation
When points are interpolated using the GeoScene3D interpolation algorithms the resulting grid file is now automatically updated to full extent even when the extent of the input point data does not completely cover the destination grid. If no interpolation settings has changed only a local interpolation for the current extent is performed and the grid is partially updated. If settings has changed, e.g., search radius, the full extent of the destination grid is updated to reflect the new settings. This last case requires loading extra point data from source and is slower that the local interpolation.

ODV Model Data Inspector
It is now possible to inspect the measured data of all 1D geophysical models (ODV). Simply right-click a model in 3D of in a profile window and select "Inspect...". The inspector shows the model layers graphical, the measured and calculated data in a chart, and the model parameters from the inversion in a table. One inspector can be opened for each model making it possible to compare multiple models. NOTE: This feature is only available when using a GERDA source, and if the database contains raw data.

Multi Profile Export
A multi profile export feature has been added. This feature makes it possible to export multiple profile windows with identical scale in one operation.

Digital Elevation Model, DEM and STDS Files (*.dem, *.ddf)
Digital elevation model files (*.dem, *.ddf) cannot be used directly in GeoScene3D. However, the GeoScene3D Toolbox can now convert, resample, and re-project these files to Surfer grid files.

Associated Objects Color
Some data types may be represented in multiple windows types (3D, profiles, Map), and in addition some data are directly related to other data. As an example a grid is associated to the points from which it was interpolated. To enhance overview of data it is common praxis that associated objects have the same color. The feature "Associated Objects Color" that is accessible from the context menu in the Object Manager makes it possible to set the color for all related objects in one operation.

Best Regards
Lars Nebel, Niels-Peter Jensen, Torben Bach and Lonnie Frøjk
